You are expected to gear yourself properly.

  • We all work hard during our events, we expect you to do the same.

  • We are not here to powerlevel you.

  • We are not here to get you gear if you dont put in any form of effort in gearing yourself up for our events.

  • Melees TPing in STR rings wont last long.

  • Mages casting in full af and +mp items wont last long.

  • Woodsman rings are cheap to buy, Snipers aswell, same with the +4 stat rings for mages at Lv74.

  • No we do not expect you to show up in full HQ gear and everything gil can buy.

  • We do expect you to put your best effort into doing events with us.

Gear Guide for Melees

General conduct:
TPing in full AF is unacceptable.
+STR rings do not belong in your TP setup.

Weapons: Whatever fits your job; (Great axe/axe for warrior, not dagger/club for example)

Head: Optical hat, Walahra Turban. those should be your main headpieces as a 75 meleejob.(disregarding cursed items?

Neck: Chivalrous chain, Peacock Charm, Spectacles. Spike necklace = spike flailed by the leaders

Body: Scorpion Harness, Haubergeon/Hauberk (anything better than that is good aswell. If you use AF, you wont last long).

Gloves: Tarasque Mitts/+1, Dusk Gloves, Okotes for MNK/SAM/NIN, Relic

Pants: No AF for most jobs (though some are accepted).

Shoes: Dusk Ledelsens, RSE (62), AF (for some jobs, WAR for example).

Back: Amemet+1/Foragers Mantle/charger's

Earrings: Coral/Merman's Earring/Suppanomimi/Brutal Earring/Ethereal Earring

Rings: If you dont have Raja's/Ulthalam's Ring, Woodman's and Snipers will do you just fine.

Waist: Swift Belt, Potent Belt, Brown Belt (if you're a Monk and dont have this, you dont belong in this linkshell) TPing in warwolf belt will not be accepted.

You are expected to gear yourself properly for linkshell events, even if you join the shell to get gear (which we all do) it is no excuse for gearing yourself badly.

Gear Guide for Mages

General Conduct:
Wearing and casting in full AF is unacceptable.
There are plenty of alternatives to AF which in-fact prove to be better in most cases.

Weapons: Elemental Staves/Cure Potency + clubs.

Head: Walahra Turban, AF Hat (RDM/BLM), Relic.

Neck: Skill Torques (Enfeebling/Elemental etc),

Body: Refresh bodies such as Noble's Tunic/Vermillion Cloak/Black Cloack prove useful but should not be full time. AF body for RDM is a must and Igqira Weskit for BLM. Errant Houppelande is good for hMP.

Gloves: RSE2 Gloves for most races/AF in some cases.

Pants: Errant Slops/JSE parts/Relic.

Back: Rainbow Cape/Errant Cape/Empowering Mantle

Earrings: Moldavite Earring for BLM and RDM/Phantom Earring/Antivenom etc. Not many earrings give stat boosts so it is better to go for MP + in this slot.

Rings: Snow Ring/Aqua Ring/Stat + rings. MP + for WHM & SMN (Astral/Ether/Serket). Tamas Ring is also a good choice.

Waist: RSE Ropes/Pentient's Rope.

You are expected to gear yourself properly for linkshell events, even if you join the shell to get gear (which we all do) it is no excuse for gearing yourself badly.

White Mage/Scholar

White mages should be wearing all MND, emity -, or MP gear in all slots. Your main job is to keep everyone alive, with standard buffs such as pro/shell/barspells, and when theres extra mp, splitting hasteing duties with the RDM. In dynamis whitemages have a very strong light based sleep, so its important that any whms use their repose spell for sleeping any hecteye pets.

weapon Easiest job in the game to gear. NQ light & dark staff are acceptable, Apollo's and Pluto's are a + for their sleep acc bonus, dryad/healing staff also good options, though more difficult to get.
Head Plenty of options here: Af2, Af1+1, Turban, or yigit turban. NQ af1 isnt good enough
Neck Fenrirs Torque/ Beak necklace(or +1)/ uggy pendant/ Ajari Necklace
earrings Antivenom & insomnia earrings for people who havent completed CoP, Magnetic earring & Loq. earring for those who have
body Nobles tunic is cheap, get it. Aristocrats is the only better option. Blessed body for bar spells, until you get WHM af2 legs, which has an effect which wont stack.
hands Blessed hands, blessed hands +1, AF1+1
rings MP. astral/ether/electrum are fine. Tamas, serket & star ring are a +. +4MND rings are also acceptable, however MP + is advised
back Intensifying cape, or rainbow cape, both cheap, get one.
waist hierarch belt.
legs with the addition of repose, all whms should be carrying af1 legs, blessed legs main, or af2 whm legs.
feet blessed pumps, af2, cure clogs, yigit.

Whms should also have a decent hmp set, errant body piece and hierarch belt + darkstaff is usually enough.
Full Yigit set for auto refresh if you cannot afford nobles tunic, this is also a very good hmp set.

Black Mage/Scholar
Essentially, BLM should have a few different gearsets. Suggest people read Kanican's LJ, http://kanican.livejournal.com/tag/black+mage+guide! for a great guide on how to play BLM, gearsets etc. Credit to him for devising this, a lot of the below is based off this LJ. Go read!

Anyway, as I said, gearsets. BLM should be looking to have an Idle set, a Nuking set, a HNM Nuking set, Dark Magic Set, hMP Set and an Enfeebling set. I'm going to post my setups in each section. I'm not saying that you should have all this stuff, or gear exactly the same. It's only to give you an idea of what is available.

The Idle set is basically, what you stand around in when you're not casting. Damage reducing items, Refresh, and a general attention to what you can put in to minimize downtime is the idea here.

My normal Idle set is:

Main: Terra's Staff
Sub: Bugard Strap +1
Ammo: Phantom Tathlum
Head: Wzd. Petasos +1
Neck: Prudence Torque
Earrings: Sorcerer's/Static
Body: Sorcerer's Coat
Hands: Src. Gloves +1
Rings: Tamas Ring/Snow Ring
Back: Cheviot Cape
Waist: Hierarch Belt
Legs: Sorcerer's Tonban
Feet: Sorcerer's Sabots

The idea here is to reduce damage where you can, and add other bonuses.
For example, why stand around in Errant/Mahatma slops? They aren't giving you any benefits while not casting, and they're giving you a fairly hefty -VIT. Similarly, why idle in anything but Earth/Terra Staff? Free -10% physical damage. If you don't have AF2 body, use a Black Cloak or other refresh piece. Weskit/AF+1 isn't benefiting me any while not nuking, so I switch it out.
Once you start adding in some other damage -% pieces, you'll really see the benefit on AoE, etc.

Nuking:

Two main sets here. One for normal mobs, and one for mobs which have a higher resistance (most HNM).

My normal damage set is:

Main: HQ staff as appropriate.
Sub: Bugard Strap +1
Ammo: Phantom Tathlum
Head: Wzd. Petasos +1
Neck: Prudence Torque/U. Pendant if under 50% MP
Earrings: Moldavite/Abyssal

Back: Prism Cape
Waist: Penitent's Rope/Element Obi as appropriate
Legs: Mahatma Slops/Sorcerer's Tonban - Tonban if Day/Single weather
Feet: Yigit Crackows

For HNM:

Main: HQ staff as appropriate.
Sub: Bugard Strap +1
Ammo: Phantom Tathlum
Head: Wzd. Petasos +1
Neck: Elemental Torque
Earrings: Moldavite/Abyssal

Normal mobs shouldn't be too resistant, once you've capped out Elemental Magic merits. If you haven't you may want to fulltime the Elemental Torque, for example. The idea with the HNM set is to minimise the resists you'll get. The 'stock' HNM value has always been about 120INT with 300+ skill. This isn't a hard cap by any means, and it won't magically make you nuke Fafnir for 3k, but it gives you an idea of where you need to be at to get reasonable returns.

Enfeebling:

Main: HQ staff as appropriate.
Sub: Bugard Strap +1
Ammo: Phantom Tathlum
Head: Igqira Tiara
Neck: Spider Torque/Enfeebling Torque (I don't have these. But I should...)
Earrings: Sorcerer's/Static
Body: Wizard's Coat +1
Hands: Master Caster's Bracelets
Rings: Tamas Ring/Snow Ring
Back: Cheviot Cape
Waist: Hierarch Belt
Legs: Igqira Lappas
Feet: Sorcerer's Sabots

I know I should have the torques. But I don't. Even though, this puts me at 274 skill, with 281 potential from the Master Caster Bracelets.
RDM cap at 75 is 276 with no merits or gear. Tiara is cheap, everyone should have AF1 body, which is 10 skill. So that's 20 right there, without even trying too hard.

Dark magic is fairly self-explanatory, get a Dark Torque & use your AF1 legs. AF2 hands, Abyssal Earring, Pluto's Staff (maybe the best HQ staff to have in terms of MP/Damage - Drain. And who doesn't love 150MP Aspirs?!) If you want to get a Dark Earring, go ahead. I don't have one, but nothing else affects Dark Magic spells but skill, so you might want to if you have a burning desire to.

hMP - again, fairly straightforward. Dark/Pluto's, Errant body, AF+1 Body, Yigit Set, all are fairly easy to get. Antivenom earring is cheap, Relaxing harder to get. Beak Necklace +1, Baron's Slops, etcetc. Lots of options here. Don't neglect this, it can really make a lot of difference once you start stacking it up.

Overall, I would expect a BLM new to HNM to have something like this setup:

Main: HQ Staffs where you can. Pluto's/Aquilos/Jupiters first.
Head: Wzd. Petasos/Igqira Tiara/Walahra Turban
Neck: Elemental Torque. hMP/Enfeebling gear if you can.
Earring: Moldavite/Morion (+1)/Abyssal/Sorcerer's/Antivenom
Body: Igqira Weskit/Wzd. Coat/Errant Hpl/Black Cloak for Refresh.
Hands: Wzd. Gloves/Master Caster Bracelets.
Rings: Snow x2. Tamas if you can.
Waist: Hierarch Belt/Penitent's Rope
Legs: Errant or Mahatma Slops/Wzd. Tonban (If you can add Igqira Lappas, all the better)
Feet: Yigit. Rostrums if you want.

Bard

For bard you need to consider gear which raises Instrument skill, CHR, Haste and MP. Another bard once told me that CHR is capped at 110 for bard, meaning it's useless to pile anymore CHR on after that. So once you have around 110 CHR you should concentrate on Skill and Haste gear. Instrument/Singing skill gear provides more accuracy than CHR, so the few pieces with skill + available for Bard are most definitely worth getting. Haste and Fast Cast provide quicker recasts and shorter casting times on songs you tend to spam such as lullaby so all in all, quite useful. And finally MP + because more often than not you'll be finding yourself healing or removing statuses to help the White mages - the bard JT Resist Silence comes in useful when half the alliance is silenced.

An overview of pieces which you could wear.

Head:
Bard's Roundlet - Singing and CHR
Opo-Opo Crown - CHR and MP (requires pamamas)
Walahra Turban - Haste and MP
Sha'ir Turban - CHR and Haste
Marduk's Tiara - Singing, CHR and MP
Notes: Not all are simple to get but by now most people have the Walahra Turban.

Notes: Bards at 75 wearing level 15 Bird Whistles will not be tolerated.

Earrings:
Melody Earrings (preferably HQ) - CHR
Musical Earring - Wind, Singing and String
Loquatious Earring - Fast Cast and MP
Wind Earring - Wind
Singing Earring - Singing
Notes: NQ Melody earrings go pretty cheap, and HQ for only around 100k. So no real dent in the bank there.

Body:

Sha'ir Manteel - Haste, Song casting reduction and CHR
Yigit Gomlek - Song casting reduction
Minstrel's Coat - Wind and String
Marduk's Jubbah - CHR, MP and Fast Cast
Notes: Of course having a manteel is not essential considering the price tag on it, but working for a Yigit Gomlek (Periqia Assault) is definitely worth it should you not want a manteel. Minstrel's Coat is very easily camped in Sea Serpant's Grotto. Novv the Whitehearted no longer drops Siren's Hair so he is mostly never camped.

Hands:
Choral Cuffs - Singing and CHR
Sha'ir Gages - CHR and Recast delay
Marduk's Dastanas - CHR and MP
Bard's Cuffs - Wind
Notes: Everyone should have the AF hands so you have no excuse. HQ AF hands are the best you can get until you HQ Relic hands. If not, Sha'ir Gages prove somewhat useful and are pretty cheap.

Rings:
Minstrel's Ring - Song casting reduction (Requires yellow HP)
Trumpet/Nereid Ring - Wind
Angel's Ring - CHR
Notes: Trumpet/Nereid rings add a lot more accuracy than CHR and are somewhat cheaper than the Angel's rings.

Back:
Jester's Cape - CHR
Astute cape - Singing and MP
Notes: Jester's Cape is horribly cheap to obtain and provides a nice CHR boost. Astute comes from a Sea NM drop, but is nice to have.

Waist:
Gleeman's Belt - CHR
RSE Belt - MP (depending on race)
Notes: Gleeman's belt also offers a nice CHR boost, between back and belt you can almost reach your CHR cap which leaves other slots free for skill and haste.

Legs:
Choral Cannions - Wind
Bard's Cannions - CHR and MP
Sha'ir Seraweels - CHR and MP
Marduk's Shalwar - CHR and Wind
Notes: Again, everyone should have AF legs and when they are HQed they prove better than the Relic. Though if you don't have access to HQing them, Relic provides a nice CHR boost. Sha'ir Seraweels are fairly cheap and are decent enough to last you until you get the two mentioned above.

Feet:
Rostrum Pumps - Fast Cast and MP
Sha'ir Crackows - CHR and Haste
Oracle's Pigaches - Wind
Notes: Wearing AF feet is not advisable when there are much nicer pieces for Bard to wear in that slot. The new Oracle's Pigaches drop from a tier 2 Zeni NM, highly reccommended for full time Bards, as well as getting some Rostrum Pumps. If all else fails Sha'ir feet last a good long while.

Weapons:
Light/Apollo's Staff - Light magic accuracy
Earth/Terra's Staff - Earth magic accuracy
Dark Staff - hMP
Chanter's Staff - CHR and Singing
Notes: Full time Bards should definitely consider getting HQ light and earth staves, they increase the accuracy of key songs like elegy and lullaby. Monster Signa is not a viable choice at level 75.

Grips:
Bugard Strap - CHR and MP
Light Grip - Light magic accuracy
Earth Grip - Earth magic accuracy
Notes: With the June update came the earth and light grips which seem very useful for Bard, though at the moment aren't too obtainable. When they become more wide spread I'd reccommend these.

Mary's Horn/Nursemaid's Harp - Lullaby
Iron Ram Horn - March
Cornette + 1 - Minuet
Traversierre + 1 - Madrigal
Angel Lyre - Haste
Notes: For those of you in the black mage parties, Angel Lyre would be advisable to use for Ballad. It provides a bit of haste and extra range to hit your mages. Other than that, Horn and Mary's Horn/Nursemaid's Harp is pretty much essential.

do note that we wont kick you for not having the best possible gear, or everything named in the thread.

this section is more of a guideline for people who are confused or flat out poor and has a shitty attitude, though, we expect members to show up in somewhat acceptable gear.

example: not full samurai JSE, sun rings and a NQ amemet mantle, hence why we wrote the guide, for people who dont know where to read up on their job and what gear it needs to perform well.

once again, dynamis, sky and limbus is a group effort and we expect all of you to put in effort into getting yourself & others gear.

expecting this linkshell to get you good gear without putting effort into your own gear before you apply to the shell, is something we leaders or members don't like.

if you feel we missed a specific weapon/piece of gear, say what needs to be added in a PM to any of the leaders and we will add it asap. ^^
